PRINCE ALBERT — A 53-year-old male inmate was declared deceased Thursday at the Prince Albert Correctional Centre at approximately 6:20 pm.
According to a release from the provincial department of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety, the inmate was found unresponsive in his cell. Corrections staff called EMS and initiated life-saving measures.
The Prince Albert Police Service and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service have been notified and are investigating. The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety will also be conducting an internal investigation.
This death is not related to COVID-19 and no foul play is suspected at this time.
Next of kin have been notified.
