Progress continues on the construction of all four components of the Credit Union CUPlex.

That is based on the latest update from parks and recreation director Keith Anderson, who reported on the state of construction up to August 31st. The update was presented to council at their Sept. 12 meeting.

According to Anderson's written report to council dated Sept. 6th, $9.1 million in work has been done to date on the theatre component, and $8.8 million on the aquatic centre. The curling rink has seen $2.3 million estimated to date while the field house has seen $2.7 million invoiced.

The report indicates that roofing installation is complete on the theatre and vertical siding installation is 90 percent complete, with theatre seating risers and stairs already poured and electrical and mechanical rough-ins progressing well inside the theatre.

The building's exterior is expected to be completed by the end of September and paving complete by mid-September, according to Anderson.

As well, work is largely ongoing for the pools and the walls in the aquatic centre, with window frame installation completed and some slab preps completed. More work on various aspects of the pools, the dressing rooms, the roofing and other aspects of the facility is to continue.

Work continues to go well on the curling rink and field house, with Anderson telling council Monday that the foundation walls for the field house were now "100 percent complete".

Anderson also told council Monday that roofing had started on the curling rink. However, that work had to stop last week because the temperature was just too hot. It got up to 52 degrees Celsius on the roof - something Anderson thought was an interesting note.

Anderson's report estimates the completion dates continue to be unchanged for the four CUPlex components. The theatre is still estimated to see substantial completion done by Dec. 20 of this year, the aquatic centre's substantial completion date is March 6, 2012, completion of the curling rink is May 31, 2012 for the theatre and completion of the field house is July 2012.
