Site visits for two potential physicians were organized in October by North Saskatchewan River Municipal Health Holdings.

Board members were advised at a regular meeting Oct. 17 of visits Oct. 2 and 3 by a physician and his family from the United Kingdom. The visit consisted of a facility tour of Prairie North Health Region and a community tour. The community portion of the tour was conducted with the assistance of CHAN members.

Another physician was due to arrive Oct. 28 for an afternoon site visit.

Dr. Mbaogu has resigned effective the end of October. The board expressed disappointment in Dr. Mbaogu's decision, but thanked him for his service and commitment to Health Holdings communities over the past two years.

Prairie North Health Region has contacted a physician from the United Kingdom for a three-month locum to serve Health Holdings clinics. Immigration proceedings are underway, but the board is unsure of his arrival date.

Clinic services will be reduced for the next two months. Erin Culligan has asked to be transferred to the Maidstone facility as a nurse practitioner position there has become vacant. She will continue to provide two days a week clinic service to St. Walburg for November.

Kelly Hughes, a nurse practitioner from North Battleford, will also provide two days a week service in the Edam clinic. Dr. Shoaib will be on holidays for the month of December.

Patients are reminded to phone well ahead for appointments to ensure prescriptions are renewed ahead of time.

The next regular meeting of the North Saskatchewan River Municipal Health Holdings board is Monday, Nov. 21 in the RM of Mervin office, Turtleford.
