It was a routine night for councillors who attended Monday's city council meeting in North Battleford.

Apart from the regular update by Keith Anderson on construction of the CUPlex, there was little business to be dealt with and it wrapped up in less than a half hour. The meeting also did not produce a big turnout of councillors as the bare minimum of four out of seven council members, including the mayor, made it to the meeting.

Passed were amendments to the bus stop locations. Council had approved the new route map for the transit system previously, but the amendments made about 17 minor changes to the 60 designated locations where the bus stops will be.

Public works director Stewart Schafer confirmed that the order has been placed for the bus stop signs, and they will go up when the weather allows it.

The City also approved amended residential incentives for residential housing, rental development incentives and inner city residential development incentives at Monday's meeting. These are reviewed on an annual basis.

Also, the amended 2011 Local Improvement Report for 100th Street from 25th Avenue to 27th Avenue was adopted and will be submitted to the Saskatchewan Municipal Board for approval, with work to include subgrade, storm sewer and pavement.

While there wasn't much excitement to witness, the meeting still drew a large and attentive audience of city workers with CUPE Local 287, who once again filled most of the seats in the gallery. This is the fourth time CUPE members had filled the gallery with their members.

The city workers are seeking a new collective bargaining agreement with the City and have been attending council meetings as part of their campaign for a new agreement. Their previous agreement had expired March 31 of last year.
