The seventh annual Humboldt District Hospital Foundation Equip To Care Radiothon wrapped up on May 3 raising $75,067 over their four days on the air with Bolt FM and Discover Humboldt.

Executive director of the foundation Lorrie Bunko says that many people were involved in the event, especially Sarah Miller and Calum McAnally who spent a total of 48 hours on the air promoting the drive throughout the four days.

Bunko says that the current total equipment needs for the Humboldt and District Hospital complex are $232,375.

This means a long list of various equipment purchases and replacement needs, including a top six list of critical needs that need to be purchased in the next six months.

The successful day one goal of $10,000 was ensured by Mike and Lacy Rath of the Humboldt Pharmasave and their $10,000 donation for a final day one total of $17,000. As a reward for reaching their day one goal, Cory Popoff, Shaun

Gardiner, Curtis Strubey, Paul Strubey, Mike Rath, and Brandon Bieber took to the bikes at Anytime Fitness to support the Radiothon with a 20 km bike ride.

Bunko finished off the radiothon with her own thank yous on the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation Facebook page. She also encouraged everyone, just like during the radiothon, to look after one another.

“Our district has experienced a major tragedy and many loved ones have been laid to rest. It’s a lot to cope with and grief affects everyone differently. Please look after one another, respect one another and be kind. We will continue to get through this together.”
