Two incidents involving knives were dealt with by Battlefords RCMP Wednesday.

Two people have been charged after RCMP were called to a report of domestic dispute involving weapons in the 1300 block of 103rd Street.

With assistance from the North Battleford Police Dog Unit, a 37-year-old male man was arrested near the residence and taken into custody. Police say further investigation revealed both the man and the 34-year-old female resident of the home were suffering from edged weapon injuries, both suffering wounds to their arms.

Both were arrested on scene and treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries and will both be appearing in North Battleford Provincial Court Thursday Nov. 21 at 9 a.m. charged with one count each of aggravated assault.

RCMP say they have been released from custody on numerous conditions, including no contact with each other. The investigation is ongoing.

In a second incident that day, RCMP say members executing a warrant at a residence on the 800 block of 108th Street were confronted by a 61-year-old woman wielding a knife.

According to RCMP, while the arresting officer distracted the woman, a second officer was able to take control of the woman's arm and remove the knife from her grip without injury to the suspect or any officers.

Charges are pending.
