QUILL LAKE — The Wadena RCMP are investigating reports that an older green and gray van approached a Quill Lake School student while they were walking to school.

The police said the incident happened around 8:30 am on June 19.

A letter signed by Kevin Garinger, Horizon’s director of education, posted on the school’s Facebook page said the principal has notified the student's caregivers and the RCMP.

Cpl. Brandon Jespersen of the Wadena RCMP said they are treating it as a suspicious vehicle file.

“At this point, there's no evidence to suggest there's a threat to the public or a criminal offense have been committed.”

Jespersen said the police went to the school to talk to the student and staff members earlier in the day and are continuing to investigate the incident.

The corporal said they have also increased patrols in Quill Lake.
