RCMP locate Cumberland House man wanted for murder

RCMP have located Alvin Thomas, who is charged with second-degree murder.

CUMBERLAND HOUSE — Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crime Unit has located Alvin Thomas, 39, of Cumberland House after police issued a public assistance request to find him.

Thomas is charged with second-degree murder in the May 29 death of 24-year-old Marisha Hoksbergen from Cumberland House.

Investigation began when the Cumberland House woman was taken to a local clinic where she was declared deceased. RCMP say there was an altercation at a residence in the community and the victim had been injured and transported to the local clinic in a private vehicle. She was pronounced deceased by EMS.

When RCMP issued their request for public help in finding Thomas, they said he had connections to Cumberland House, Prince Albert and Nipawin. He was arrested by Prince Albert Police Service on June 4 in Prince Albert on an unrelated incident.
