Guilty plea in Estevan child pornography case

Trevor Dean Curtis of Estevan has pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing child pornography from earlier this year. He was released on conditions and will be sentenced on July 11.

One dead after civil emergency alert

Following the Saskatchewan RCMP issuing a public safety alert for a dangerous person with a firearm in Cumberland House Cree Nation, they have confirmed that one man is deceased. See the timeline of what unfolded during the alert as laid out by RCMP .

Kamsack sisters' murder convictions reviewed

The federal government is reviewing the 1994 murder convictions of sisters Odelia and Nerissa Quewezance in the death of Kamsack-area farmer Anthony Joseph Dolff. The sisters’ cousin – who was a youth at the time - previously confessed on APTN that he is the one who killed Dolff. The youth was sentenced to only four years in prison.

Witnesses fail to identify, charges dropped

In Lloydminster court, the Crown’s witnesses failed to to identify 24-year-old Riley Baptiste on trial for a home invasion on Onion Lake First Nation. One witness was even brought to court in handcuffs and refused to testify in the same room as the defendant. The charges were dropped.

Dangerous offender's lawyer withdraws

A court designated Dangerous Offender's lawyer has withdrawn because the matter has “become somewhat complicated.” He will now be represented by Brian Pfefferle.

Robin Dean Wuttunee, who is from North Battleford, has been in custody since he was arrested July 17, 2021, on Onion Lake Cree Nation after the Nation’s security checkpoint allegedly found a semi-automatic rifle and ammunition in a bag belonging to Wuttunee

Organized crime charges in court

A preliminary hearing has been set for a man arrested after police broke up a sophisticated organized crime drug network in Saskatchewan and Alberta. In July 2021, Ali Sarfraz was charged with conspiracy to commit trafficking of methamphetamine and cocaine, trafficking cocaine and methamphetamine, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine, possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000 and commission of an offence for the benefit of a criminal organization.

Eight years for murder

A 32-year-old Nipawin woman was sentenced to eight years in prison for the death of 43-year-old Kenneth Merasty on Flying Dust First Nation . Whitecap was charged with second-degree murder but pleaded guilty last month to the lesser charge of manslaughter.

Yorkton man charged with luring a child

A Yorkton man has been charged with luring a child in relation to an investigation through a popular online social media application. Mitchell Paul Carpenter, 26, was arrested and charged June 2 and has been released on numerous conditions.

'Armed and dangerous' man sought and arrested

Police arrested 25-year-old Roger Wesley Custer June 2 without incident in Pelican Narrows. Custer was wanted on several warrants and was considered to be armed and dangerous.

Arrests made in Megan Gallagher case

Ernest Vernon Whitehead, 41, Roderick William Sutherland, 44, and Jessica Sutherland, 42, have been arrested in ration to the disappearance of Megan Gallagher of Saskatoon in 2020. Police are still looking for John Wayne Sanderson . They have all been charged with offering an indignity to human remains.

Saskatoon man charged with child porn offences

On May 4, investigators with the ICE unit and SPS patrol executed a search warrant at the residence and, on June 1, Aiden Bohle, 19, turned himself into police and is charged with three counts of making available child pornography and four counts of possession of child pornography.

Man sought for Cumberland House homicide located

June 5 Update: Alvin Thomas was located and arrested by Prince Albert Police Service on June 4 in Prince Albert on an unrelated incident.

June 1 release: Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crime Unit has charged Alvin Thomas, 39, of Cumberland House with second-degree murder and are actively trying to locate him. Thomas is a suspect in the May 29 death of 24-year-old Marisha Hoksbergen from Cumberland House.
