Starting Aug. 1, the cost will go up for criminal record checks at the Battlefords RCMP.

According to a news release, the fee collected by the City of North Battleford will remain the current rate of $25. But if fingerprints are required, the federal fees will now consist of an additional $25 for the taking of prints, as well as another $25 if a verification of a criminal record or non-record is required.

The increase is needed to comply with federal regulations.

Federal fees will be collected at Battlefords RCMP detachment. Fees must be paid via certified cheque or money order made payable to the Receiver General of Canada.

It should also be noted record checks for volunteer applications and other services may be exempt. Further information on the exemptions can be found on the national RCMP website at www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/crcj/fing-empr2-eng.htm.
