The Association of Saskatchewan Realtors in conjunction with Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation has honoured local Realtor Alexander (Al) White with a Distinguished Realtor Award.
ASR CEO Bill Madder presented the award at the ASR Quality of Life Legacy Gala held April 8 in Saskatoon.
"I am so very honoured to be here tonight and absolutely shocked to receive this award," White said as he accepted the award. He also joked, "So there was only the one nomination?"
According to the ASR, the purpose of the award is to recognize an active member of the association who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and dedication to the real estate industry through involvement in the provincial association, local board and the community.
According to a press release, White has made, and continues to make, strides in all of these categories.
Upon retiring from a 35-year career with the RCMP in 1999, White joined Re/Max of the Battlefords, where he is currently an associate broker and branch manager. He served as President of the Council of Battlefords Realtors three times and was a director with the ASR for eight years, serving as ASR president in 2012. He chaired and served on a host of committees during his tenure and was active in his community as well.
It was truly "The evening of Al White," as earlier in the gala, White was awarded an Honorary Life Membership in the ASR, and later on, raised a significant sum for charity by allowing himself to be auctioned off in the "dream date package" during the gala's live auction.
"It is with great pride that we congratulate Al White on being selected to receive this honour," said Madder, "and wish him continued success."
