Here is an update on some matters that came up in provincial court in North Battleford on Thursday Oct. 10, before Judge David Kaiser.
Matters in the case against Chase Brent Hamilton of North Battleford have been adjourned to mid-November for separate court dates in North Battleford and Lloydminster.
Being sent back to Lloydminster provincial court are Hamilton's more serious firearms, aggravated assault and forcible confinement charges connected to an alleged Sept. 27 robbery incident in Lloydminster.
His Lloydminster charges will come up Nov. 18 in Lloydminster. His less-serious North Battleford charges - for mischief, breach of probation and drug possession - will return to North Battleford court Nov. 13.
Counsel indicated in court Thursday that they have agreed to a consent remand in his case. Both of Hamilton's November court appearances are slated to be by closed-circuit TV.
Hamilton had been remanded in custody since Oct. 8, when he was arrested in North Battleford on the drug charges. Following the arrest, RCMP thanked the public for their assistance in helping locate Hamilton, who had been wanted in an extensive manhunt by police following the Lloydminster incident.
Appearing in court Thursday was Chad Weasel, accused in connection to two walking trail incidents from Sept. 28.
Weasel, who faces sexual assault and two breach-of-undertaking charges, has been remanded in custody until Oct. 16 for his next scheduled appearance, which is to be by closed-circuit TV. A non-publication order on the alleged victims has been issued as well.
Also in court Thursday was Marty Moccasin, a.k.a. Marty Wapass, who is facing several charges stemming from an alleged Oct. 8 incident on 110th Street in the city. He is charged with pointing a firearm, uttering a threat, possessing a firearm without a license and carrying a weapon for purpose of committing an offence.
Moccasin had indicated in court this week that he had been attempting to contact private counsel in Edmonton. His matters have been adjourned to Friday morning for a bail hearing.
