This Saturday afternoon shoppers around Frontier Mall in North Battleford might see a multitude of women wearing red hats.

The Red Hat Society will be hosting a parade down the street from the Gold Eagle Lodge down to Frontier Mall. It will start at the Gold Eagle Lodge around 3 p.m and the march will wrap up inside Frontier Mall.

The parade is being held in conjunction with the provincial Red Hat convention April 20 to 22 in North Battleford at Gold Ridge Centre.

Approximately 226 Red Hatters are registered for the convention, which will also include some visitors from as far away as British Columbia. Three banquets are planned for the event including one to celebrate the birthday of founder Sue Ellen Cooper.

This isn't the first time the Red Hat Society has paraded in North Battleford. They held a parade three years ago in tandem with their provincial convention.

The Red Hat Society is an international organization for women over 50 to be able to have fun and socialize, wearing their identifiable red hats. The three Red Hat groups in the Battlefords are the Battlefords Belles, Regal Rubies and the Classic Cardinals.
