RCMP are crediting quick action by Wilkie residents for the apprehension of two suspects being arrested after the Wilkie Pharmacy was broken into Thursday, Sept. 17.

Police say residents noticed individuals moving around inside the closed pharmacy at around 10:30 p.m. One witness drove around behind the store and used his truck to block the back door.

The witnesses observed two large men in dark clothing inside the store and when RCMP arrived on the scene the residents had grabbed one large man as he was attempting to leave the pharmacy by crawling out the broken window.

Richard David Bear age 26 of North Battleford was arrested.

Police say the second man, who was locked inside the pharmacy by the truck parked against the back door, was also arrested without incident. This man was identified as Joshua Roy Tucker age 24 of Cochin.

Police say the men had stashed approximately $20,000 to $30,000 worth of drugs into bags, but they had been unable to leave the store with them because of the actions of the residents.

A third suspect, Angel Lee Bear age 25 of North Battleford, was in a truck taken from North Battleford without the consent of the owner.

All three were taken to North Battleford to appear in court the next day facing numerous charges including break and enter and committing theft, possession of break and enter instruments, and for the men, wearing a disguise with intent.

Just prior to this incident Unity/Wilkie/Macklin RCMP received a complaint of a large man dressed in black who had broken into a Wilkie resident's shed and stole two golf bags. When the homeowner confronted the man, he left without the golf clubs.
