Police were called to a break-in at R & J’s Garden Restaurant in Battleford at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3. The perpetrator(s) entered the front reception area by breaking a window and attempted to gain entrance into the dining area by breaking a glass door that separates the two rooms, but was stopped from causing further damage when the alarm went off. Damages are expected to total over $1,000 and will be covered by insurance. Ricky Cheung and his wife, Jenny Wu, have owned the restaurant for just over a year, and, he says, they haven’t had any problems with break-ins until today. R & J’s is open today, despite the broken glass, and customers can enter through the side door.
