Motorcycle Ride for Dad will once again visit Blaine Lake June 16, as the cavalcade of motorcyclists travels along the highway to raise awareness and pledges for prostate cancer.
The event occurs annually on the Father's Day weekend in honour of the men who have or are challenged with the disease.
Participating riders will depart from the Western Development Museum (WDM) in Saskatoon at 10:45 a.m. after a pancake breakfast. The parade route through the city will include travelling down Spadina Crescent to the Lawson Heights Mall parking lot then to the Sangster's poker stop where the riders will pick up their first of a series of poker cards.
Poker stops include WDM, Lawson Heights Mall, Blaine Lake Hafford and the Battlefords with an optional stop at Pro-Line Yamaha.
Riders will head out north of Saskatoon on Highway 12 and begin arriving in Blaine Lake at noon for a SaskEnergy barbecue lunch set up on Main Street. Many riders will be eating and departing quickly to be able to adhere to the tight agenda.
The cavalcade is expected to travel west on Highway 40 for a Hafford arrival at 1 p.m. where the Summer Sizzle volunteer committee will provide treats for the riders. The cavalcade will then proceed west on Highway 40 to North Battleford to their final destination of Gold Eagle Casino. Estimated arrival time is between 3 and 4 p.m. The day will conclude there with awards, presentations, supper and evening entertainment.
