The RM of Barrier Valley focused on employee pay and a shortage of police officers at its December council meeting.
After a closed session at its Dec. 8 meeting, council voted to provide a combined salary of $160,000 plus benefits for three of its employees: administrator Glenda Smith as well as grader operators Raymond Tremblay and Richard Fedirko. Hourly rates were also set for the mower operator, pest control officer and waste disposal ground operator.
The RM voted to send a letter to the justice minister with their concern about the shortage of police officers while being charged the full police levy for 2016.
Council passed a code of conduct governing council members.
The RM gave the Archerwill Driftrider club permission to chip the road allowance along the NE 27-40-13-W2 to use as their snowmobile trail.
