RM OF NIPAWIN — The reeve of the RM of Nipawin, Mark Knox, has tendered his resignation.
It was effective June 26.
“I’m moving to Saskatoon and I feel I couldn’t serve the ratepayers of the RM of Nipawin when I’m in Saskatoon,” he said.
Knox’s seat will remain empty until the general elections for divisions 2, 4 and 6 on Oct. 24. Deputy reeve Joe Woodward will perform Knox’s functions until a new one is elected.
“I enjoyed my time on council,” Knox said. “It was a good council and [there were] good employees to work with.”
Knox was elected as a councillor for the RM in 2007 and became reeve in 2012.
