North Battleford residents are on alert after a couple of robberies on the city streets in the past few days.

North Battleford RCMP say they are investigating a robbery that happened at around 5:00am on the 2600 block of 98th Street in North Battleford on Oct. 13.

According to a news release from the RCMP, a lone male suspect approached a male victim and asked him for a cigarette. When the victim tried to retrieve one, he was struck in the head and rendered unconscious.

When the victim woke, he discovered he was missing cash and several personal items. The victim then attended to hospital for treatment. The incidentwas reported to RCMP about five hours later.

The suspect was described as possibly Caucasian,six feet tall,with average build and wearing a red Adidas pullover jacket with a hood. He was also described as wearing white and safety green running shoes.

Police say this is the second reported robbery in the city in recent days, with a similar incident happening just two days earlier. Just after 9 pm on October 11th, another victim was robbed of cash and other personal effects on the 1100 block of 105th Street.

Again, circumstances were similar, with a lone male striking the victim in the head with an unknown object after requesting to borrow a lighter from him.

The suspect in the Oct. 11th incident was described as being a First Nations individual, height 5 feet 11 inches, with short black hair, wearing a black coat with a black fur lined hood and blue pants.

So far, no arrests have been made and both incidents remain under investigation by police. An RCMP composite sketch artist was to work with the victims of both incidents in the case.
