It might be profitable to roll up the rim, but rolling through a stop sign can be costly.

Members of the RCMP are stepping up enforcement activities at stop signs.

Last Friday, March 9, the RCMP's Traffic services unit based in North Battleford conducted a half day long disobey-stop-sign enforcement operation, targeting the intersection of Territorial Drive and Highway 16. That intersection is well known as a high collision location in North Battleford.

Over 100 motorists were ticketed for failing to stop for the stop signs. Police are reminding drivers they must come to a complete stop anywhere a stop sign is posted.

The fine for disobeying a stop sign is $230 and four demerit points off an offender's driver's licence.

Police say they will continue to run similar enforcement operations in the Northwest, as intersection collisions continue to be one of the leading causes of injury and death on roadways.
