Stacey Beisel was thrilled to be able to close out 2019 with a major lottery win. The resident of Rush Lake, Sask. won $100,000 on the Tuesday, Dec. 3 Western Max draw.
Beisel bought his winning ticket from the Canadian Tire Gas Bar on 105 North Service Road East in Swift Current. The $3 Western Max ticket was part of a $24 Super Pack that gives players quick pick tickets for the upcoming Lotto 6/49, Lotto Max, Daily Grand, Western 649 and Western Max draws.
He checked his tickets at the same store the following weekend.
“I scanned it at the ticket checker, and there were so many zeros!” he remembered. “I took it up to have it checked at the terminal too, and the cashier said I won $100,000!”
The winner said he’ll use his windfall to pay off debts, and put the rest aside for now.
“It’s a great feeling to have no debt before I retire,” he said.
Beisel matched six main numbers and the bonus number on the same line of his Western Max ticket to win the $100,000 prize. The winning numbers on Dec. 3 were 1, 5, 10, 36, 40, 43, and 48. The bonus number was 29.
Western Max is a regional version of Canada’s biggest lottery game, Lotto Max. Only available on the Prairies and in the North, Western Max draws take place every Tuesday and Friday evening. The game offers a $2 million jackpot, 14 draws for prizes of $1 million on every draw date, and other cash prizes ranging from $2 to $100,000.
