HUMBOLDT — Local elementary students will soon be upgrading their bicycle skills.
Safe Communities Humboldt and Area will host their seventh annual Bike Rodeo and Safety Day on May 25 at the Uniplex parking lot for Grade 1 to 5 students from St. Dominic School and Humboldt Public School. If the weather is bad, it will be at the curling rink.
"If weather permits, the students will be escorted by RCMP from their respective schools to the Uniplex," Safe Communities said in a media release. "Please exercise caution on the streets this day as student groups will be walking or riding bikes from their school to the Uniplex during the hours of 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m."
The bike rodeo will include a bicycle safety check, helmet fitting and bicycle obstacle courses. There will also be draws for prizes provided by local businesses.
There will also be other safety activities happening at the event, done by Humboldt & District Ambulance Service, Humboldt RCMP, Humboldt Fire Department, the Saskatchewan Health Authority's Acquired Brain Injury Program, and the Humboldt Aquatic Centre.
