Residents at Sandy Lake want people to know that police have now have the upper hand on a crime spree that hit the resort and campground over the past couple of months.

Many bottles were smashed and a number of campers had been broken into during the spree. A couple of weeks ago, there was particularly bad damage with about five or six campers vandalized and an ATV quad stolen.

About a week ago RCMP police arrested two individuals accused of committing the vandalism damage and the theft of the quad. They found them driving the stolen quad in Spiritwood.

A tipster to the Regional Optimist called to let the newspaper know about the crime activity and that the people responsible for the recent crime spree at Sandy Lake were caught. They want the word to get out that the area should now be safe for visitors looking to attend any events there during the coming summer months.
