Prairie North Health Region has issued a progress report up to Dec. 1, 2016, detailing where construction stands as of that date. It can be accessed at the Prairie North website at www.pnrha.ca.

They have also put together a three-minute video of flyover footage from the construction site, showing how construction has proceeded from the start up to the present time.

While there is still work left to do, a good portion of the hospital building itself is now up. The health region is reporting the project is 38 per cent complete, and is on time and on budget.

Their progress report indicated the structural steel and metal decking is nearly complete, the concrete floor slabs are complete, the exterior wall stud and wall panels are 80 per cent complete, mechanical and electrical overhead rough in work is continuing in all areas, gymnasium masonry work is finished and installation of Tyndall stone exterior finish is underway. Site service work is nearly complete as well.

The plan is to complete the roofing work this spring and begin installing the flooring and cabinetry as well as the exterior walls in the coming year. The building envelope should be complete by the fall of 2017.

The Prairie North site also continues to broadcast a live construction webcam feed that is updated every 15 minutes.

The new 284-bed hospital and corrections facility will replace the 103-year-old existing hospital. Construction began with a sod turning in September 2015 and is expected to be completed in 2018.

In a news release Monday, Prairie North Health Region is encouraging everyone to share this information at their website as widely as they wish, “so that the people of Saskatchewan can see what’s happening with the project and share our excitement.”
