A Saskatoon man accused of distributing and making child porn appeared in court Oct. 21 and the matter was adjourned.
The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit arrested Brandon Crowe, 31, earlier this month after an investigation that was launched May 2020 into a person using multiple online accounts to share child porn through a popular social media chat application.
According to police, officers from ICE obtained a search warrant for a residence in Saskatoon on July 9 after it was identified as the location where the offences were occurring. Police didn’t find any child porn at the residence but they seized a cell phone and a forensic analysis found evidence of the alleged offences.
Police from ICE arrested Crowe Oct. 5 and charged him with three counts of possessing child porn, two counts of distributing child porn, and one count of making child porn available. Crowe was released from custody on numerous conditions after appearing in court the day he was arrested.
Crowe is now scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court Nov. 26 to enter an election on how he wants to be tried. The charges against Crowe haven’t been proven in court.
The Saskatchewan ICE Unit consists of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service and Prince Albert Police Service. They investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
