NORTHEAST — Northeast schools will see almost $1.4 million in repairs during the next school year.
Nipawin’s LP Miller Comprehensive School will receive $550,000 and Melfort and Unit Comprehensive Collegiate will receive $495,000 for roof repairs.
“LP Miller is a 52-year-old building. It’s just like MUCC here in the city here,” said Don Remple, the division’s director of education. “Those buildings are near the end of life and they’ll need continual maintenance and repair.”
Bjorkdale School will receive $120,000 to replace the roof over its gym.
Melfort’s Maude Burke Elementary will receive $75,000 for a new washroom and an upgrade to the controls for the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system.
Tisdale Middle & Secondary School and Naicam School will recive $65,000 and $12,000 respectively to replace the out-of-date control system for their heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units.
A consultant will develop a study on sustainable schools and a utilization and facilities condition index for Gronlid Central, Star City, Bjorkdale and Arborfield Schools.
