Good fortune found Nolin Baptiste during a break. With some downtime at work, the Cando resident decided to scratch his lottery tickets. He won $20,000.
Nolin bought the tickets at Frog Lake General Store while stopped in Frog Lake, Alta. But it wasn't until about a week later he got around to scratching the package of tickets when there was a lull at work. He scratched a few tickets before he got to the Blackjack ticket in the pouch.
When he saw he had beaten the dealer for a prize of $20,000, he knew he had won big.
"At that point, I was just really excited," he laughed. "I just started thinking about what to do with the winnings."
Nolin hasn't decided exactly how he wants to spend his windfall, but he will likely pay off some bills.
