Search for Sheree Fertuck continues

Police say missing woman victim of homicide

Just over four months have passed since the RCMP began investigating the disappearance of 51-year-old Sheree Fertuck.

Fertuck was last seen leaving her family's farmyard east of Kenaston and has not been seen since Monday, Dec. 7, 2015. There has been no banking activity, use of her passport or cellular phone and Fertuck has not made contact with her family.

The Major Crimes Unit has prepared a timeline outlining Fertuck’s last known movements and activity in the hopes it may lead to information regarding her disappearance.

Investigators say they believe Fertuck is a victim of homicide. This conclusion comes after lengthy searches, analysis of evidence and overall investigation into her disappearance, police say.

In addition to community organized searches, multiple RCMP units including detachments, Search and Rescue, Police Dog Service, Civil Air Search and Rescue and the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team have been engaged in ongoing search efforts.

Beginning Wednesday, investigators will be searching specific locations in the province attempting to locate Fertuck and evidence related to her disappearance. RCMP explain these searches have been identified through investigational means. Multiple specialized investigative units will be involved and police say they will not discount any evidence, large or small, that is recovered. Landowners in these areas will be notified of the police presence and the police are not asking the public to participate in these searches.

“Sheree’s family, like so many other families, have said that every possible scenario of what happened runs through their minds,” says S/Sgt. Murray Chamberlin, RCMP Major Crime Unit South.

“As investigators, we work to try and provide answers to the questions families have. Our mission is to find Sheree and bring her home.”
