Sept. 16 is the day Randy Bodnarchuk will learn his fate in a drunk driving causing death case.

A decision on sentencing has been adjourned to 9 a.m. that day in North Battleford Provincial Court. Judge Dan O’Hanlon set the date following extensive Crown and defence submissions Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Bodnarchuk had previously entered a plea of guilty to impaired driving over 80 mg causing death, a Criminal Code offence.

He was charged after his vehicle was involved in a fatal collision on Highway 4 north of the city on the morning of Dec. 10.

In submissions in court Tuesday, the Crown called for a sentence in the range of four to five years as well as a 10-year driving prohibition and a DNA order. The defence called for a shorter jail term of about three years.
