It's time to fix the roads.
Paving crews are scheduled to be in Humboldt on September 4, to start much needed road work in the city.
"Road work such as pothole patching and crack sealing are already underway," stated a news release issued by the City on August 30. "Work will begin on the east end of 5th Ave. and progress westwards during the first week of September."
Due to the road work being done, sections of 5th Ave. will be temporarily closed during the week.
Other areas scheduled for road repair are:
Hwy. 5 from 7th St. to 9th St.;
15th Ave. from Platzer Drive to 4th St.;
6th St. from 1st Ave. to 2nd Ave.;
12th St. from 1st Ave. north to 2nd Ave.;
The east end of 11th Ave.
The City said approximately $650,000 will be spent on repairing and paving roadway infrastructure this fall.
"Residents will notice increased traffic signage and alternate routing within the City limits during this time," stated the release. "Drivers are reminded to slow down in work zones, watch for construction workers and follow all on-site detour directions."
The City also asks motorists to avoid driving on fresh paving coats as the oil mixture may adhere to vehicles.
