EAST CENTRAL — Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Humboldt area

Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

The watch was issued at 3:20 pm on Canada Day, July 1.

“As a cold front traverses Saskatchewan today, thunderstorms are developing along the front,” said Environment Canada. “For much of southern and central Saskatchewan, some of the thunderstorms that develop have the potential to become severe."

The weather agency is saying the cold front is tracking rapidly across Saskatchewan, so the weather may change quickly.

UPDATE: As of 5:57 pm, the watch has been updated to a warning for the RMs of Usborne and Wolverine.

UPDATE: As of 6:40 pm, the warnings are over. The watches are still in place.
