A suspect charged with aggravated assault and other offences in an alleged Sept. 1 shooting of an individual in North Battleford is due to return to court later this month.

An adjournment has been granted in the case of Valen Nicotine, who appeared in court Wednesday. His next date is tentatively set for June 23, but it seems the date is likely to be changed so Nicotine will not have to spend the weekend in RCMP cells before coming to court.

He is one of three individuals charged in that case. A second suspect, Justin Fineday, is due back in court June 12 facing similar charges from the Sept. 1 incident, while a 17-year-old youth was sentenced in November to 160 days open custody and 80 days supervision after pleading guilty to accessory, breach and prohibited weapon charges.
