Time seems to be flying by and luckily weather is warming up just in time for the June 21 Sizzler Strut.

The strut is set to start at 9 a.m. and will be kicked off by the Canadian Tire kids’ race, then the adult five-kilometre walk/run at 9:15, followed lastly by the 10-kilometre mini-marathon. Since it’s happening on Father’s Day weekend, every dad who registers with his child – no matter what age – will get entered into a draw for a $500 Toro lawn mower. Farm World Humboldt donated the lawn mower as this year’s Father’s Day feature.

“It’s just a fun community event,” said Patti Durand, one of the event organizers. “I think there’s something for everyone. There’s fitness, but you can also celebrate family and Father’s Day. It’s great energy and a lot of fun.”

The first 250 registrants will receive a free t-shirt courtesy of the strut’s title sponsor, the Branding Barn, and runners will receive Running Room gift cards and medals as prizes after the race. The race packages that all runners will receive was sponsored by South 20 Dodge and RV and will contain various goods and coupons.

Some of the other sponsors for the event include SaskEnergy through their Champions of Volunteers program and Scotiabank, who’s matching all funds raised at the pancake breakfast. Any proceeds raised at the breakfast will be shared with Calico Gymnastics, who will also be helping out.

Colony Motor Products will be helping out by hosting a water station.

“It’s a great opportunity to come out and celebrate with your dad,” said Durand. “Even if you’re not running, you can still come and support the trails and the community and cheer on the people who are walking and running.”
