The Battlefords and area are among the recipients of some of the charitable gaming grants distributed by Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority.

Approximately $1.7 million in charitable gaming grants have been distributed to more than 700 groups and organizations in the province, according to a new release issued this week by the province.

Of that total, $96,420 have been handed out this quarter to North Battleford and surrounding area.

The charitable gaming program is designed to support groups and organizations that conduct charitable gaming including licensed bingos, raffles, break open tickets, Texas Hold 'em poker and Monte Carlo events. Groups and organizations receive a grant equal to 25 per cent of net revenues raised from these events.
