Nine Battlefords citizens have set themselves up for a chilly dunking April 29 in a bid to help the air and army cadets from North Battleford with a fundraising project.

Billed as a Polar Bear Dunk, the initiative will see these individuals plunged into the dunk tank's water April 29 if a minimum of $500 is raised in their name.

The dunking, slated to take place at 2 p.m. on the library grounds in North Battleford, has been organized to raise funds for a 10-day EF tour by members of the local squadrons.

The tour, titled History: Canada and the World Wars, will allow the cadets to visit places such as Vimy Memorial, Anne Franck House, Beaumont Hamel, Sachsenhausing Concentration Camp and other memorials.

"Each cadet who participates will be responsible for individual cost incurred," explains Barb Kirby, team leader with Royal Canadian Air Cadet Corps No. 2537.

"However, we will be doing some fundraising to help offset the individual cost."

Kirby and the other organizers encourage everyone to look through the list and see their "favourite or not so favourite citizen of the Battlefords dunked.

Lists can be seen at Kelly's Computer Works on 100th Street, by contacting Jason or Karen Reimer at 445-8927 or Battlefords Polar Bear Dunk on Facebook.
