The RCMP say impaired driving enforcement is being made a national priority.

According to a press release, RCMP officers across the country are increasing traffic enforcement to stop impaired driving, beginning with an enforcement blitz Saturday, Dec. 7.

Detachments and traffic units across Saskatchewan will be participating in various traffic enforcement initiatives Saturday and Sunday.

Since January 2013, there have been 33 fatal alcohol-related collisions in Saskatchewan, which accounts for one third of all fatal collisions so far this year. In Saskatchewan, there have been 2,919 charges for impaired driving since the beginning of this year.

Police say a small decision can have great consequences. Saskatchewan RCMP encourages everyone to commit to driving sober.
