NORTH BATTLEFORD — A special council meeting has been called for Wednesday, June 22 in North Battleford to discuss the city applying to request designation as an eligible assistance area under the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP).

The meeting will be held over Zoom at noon.

The special meeting comes following the rainstorm on June 13 which dumped upwards of 100 millimetres of rain on North Battleford. According to the city, they experienced a one-in-100-year rainstorm over a six-hour span, causing localized flooding throughout the community.

The PDAP program provides assistance for uninsurable losses of essential goods to help people get back to pre-disaster conditions. The city will provide an update to residents on www.cityofnb.ca.

The city advises impacted residents to contact insurance providers for coverage information and keep detailed records of damage, work completed, receipts and photos. PDAP is not a substitute for private insurance, and does not provide full compensation for losses.
