TISDALE — The Tisdale Chamber of Commerce is adding something new to the mix for its summer events – a street fair and sidewalk sale.

The street fair will be held July 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the hours before the Rockin‘ the Square concert in the town square.

“The street is closed from 8 o’clock in the morning for the concert this year, so we wanted to bring some foot traffic to the local merchants downtown and try to get some business down there for them,” said Niki Harpham, the chamber’s executive director.

Trombley Meats will host a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., with other food available the rest of the day.

Local businesses and home-based businesses will line Main Street.

“We have a lot of kid stuff, so there will be lots of things for kids to do,” Harpham said.

That includes a teddy care clinic from Tisdale Ambulance, fire truck and ambulance tours, a bouncy castle, the climbing wall, a sand pile between Lacroix Drug and the Cornerstone Credit Union, henna tattoos, face painting and glitter tattoos.

There will be a dunk tank from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., where local celebrities will be dunked to help raise money for the skateboard park.

As for the concert, which features Glass Tiger, Rik Emmett of Triumph, and Nick Gilder and Sweeny Todd, Harpham said tickets are selling fast and can be purchased at the Chamber office, Hi-Fashion, Cornerstone Credit Union, Royal Bank, Crowley’s Workware and Melfort’s Northern Lights Gallery.

The parade, which will be held a day before, July 5, will begin at 6 p.m. New this year is a pipe band.
