Several members of an alleged native street gang are under arrest following a rash of break and enters into houses, garages and motor vehicles Saturday.
Battlefords RCMP say they have charged three adults and two young offenders, following several complaints during the early hours of March 3.
Police say they responded to the suspicious persons complaints, as well as a theft and a break and enter into a home on 107th Street on that date. RCMP investigators were able to locate and apprehend several individuals found to be in possession of stolen property.
They also report they conducted a search of a residence on the 1100 block of 107th Street in North Battleford in which a significant amount of stolen property was recovered.
According to Sgt. Darcy Woolfitt of Battlefords RCMP, the alleged activity took place over a span of 24 hours. The RCMP's search took place at an apartment building with the consent of the property owner.
Among the items recovered were stereo speakers, Blackberry cell phones, a 32-inch television, saws, electric drills, wrench sets and other tools, DVD players, laptop computers and an Xbox. A stolen vehicle was also recovered.
The accused individuals are alleged to be members of a criminal organization calling itself the Crazy Natives street gang.
According to the RCMP, the following individuals were arrested and charged:
Paul Joseph Nicotine, age 18: charged with one count of break and enter and commit theft and one count of possession of stolen property.
Valen Paul Nicotine, age 19: one count of break and enter and commit theft and possession of stolen property.
Gary Spencer Fox, age 19: one count of theft and one count of breach under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
One young offender age 16 was charged withtwo counts of break and wnter and commit theft, one count of possession of stolen property, two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, one count of flight from police, one count of failing to remain at scene of an accidentand one count of dangerous operation of motor vehicle causing bodily harm. A second young offender, age 15, was charged with break and enter and commit theft, as well as possession of stolen property.
The accused individuals made their initial appearance in North Battleford provincial court Monday. The investigation is still ongoing.
