TISDALE — Tisdale streets will be blocked this year as construction workers replace water lines and repave roads.

Water line construction likely won’t begin until late August. The streets affected include 103rd Avenue, 102nd Avenue, 102nd Street and 100th Street. This will cost the town around $300,000.

“The water and sewer lines we’re replacing [is] because they’re over 40 years old and they’re the problematic lines that are breaking, so we’re just doing some maintenance, some upkeep to prevent them from any future breaks and disruptions,” said Brad Hvidston, the town’s administrator.

This construction means there should be fewer disruptions caused by water breaks in the community. Water line construction will take about a week per block to complete.

Repaving begins in about two weeks, and will include: 97th Avenue, 101th Avenue, 105th Avenue and 96th Street. This will cost around $570,000.

“The streets that we’re paving in particular are lines that we’ve dug up in prior years. So when we dig up water and sewer lines we typically need to repave the streets after, because the pavement is gone due to the digs,” Hvidston said. “So those are the streets that we’re replacing.”

Repaving is only expected to take a couple of days per street.
