The weather was ideal for the Blaine Lake public library's first Sunday in the Park Aug. 18.

The evening began with musical entertainment by local musicians and singers. Barb Woytiuk, Ed Bajak, Tanys Sherstobetoff, Don Sawchuk and Jason Lee entertained the audience with instrumentals, vocals and children's interactive songs.

Jim Smith had a small selection of his collection of blades on display. Smith has collected the blades over the years and has developed a timeline depicting the history. Some of the items included copper adz, copper arrowhead, copper axe, bronze hook, Bronze Age small knives, bronze daggers of Persia and more.

Youth from Forest Grove Church in Saskatoon were in attendance to barbecue burgers with Pastor Kevin Koop and offer face-painting to the children. The youth were in town for the vocational Bible school week that was taking place at the Blaine Lake Gospel Chapel.

Balloon Funn by Warren kept children, youth and adults captivated with his professionalism and expertise in balloon twisting. It didn't matter what animal, creature or object the youth would request, Warren was capable of creating the balloon sculpture. Whether a camel or sea creature, a bowl of fruit or a hat, Warren was able to create it.

A group of aspiring actors created and acted a skit about a reused piece of bubble gum.

"This was a way of celebrating the end of the summer program," commented Sheryle Powley, branch librarian, explaining that the social aspect was very rewarding as a bridge was formed between generations.

Patrons of all ages gathered to enjoy the music, food and fellowship.
