With the help of the RCMP Air Support Unit and Police Dog Services, RCMP members of the Elk Point RCMP in Alberta have arrested 29-year-old Ryan Chad Stonechild and his friends.

After attempting to have Stonechild stop the stolen vehicle for police, he eventually bailed out on foot into a wooded area and has now been taken into custody without further incident. Stonechild will be facing a number of charges out of Alberta and Saskatchewan.

The arrest stemps from an incident on Aug. 1. RCMP say that, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Maidstone RCMP received the report of an armed carjacking that occurred north of Lloydminster.

The male victim was driving Stonechild and his friends to Onion Lake from Lloydminster when the victim was told to pull over.

Stonechild allegedly directed the male to get out of the vehicle and fired two warning shots to keep him away.

The public was warned not to approach Stonechild, as he was considered armed and dangerous.
