The launch of Tourism Week in the Battlefords also marks the launch of the annual Best of the Battlefords Photo Contest.
The contest, from Destination Battlefords, is open to amateur and professional photographers with no entry fee required. A major prize package valued at $200 will be awarded in each of four categories: Battlefords Vacation (photos of vacation or scenery), Events (festivals, parades) Urban Life (local architecture and city and town life) and Sports and Recreation (hockey, baseball, football, fishing, skiing).
In addition, a grand prize winner selected from the four category winners will receive a prize package in addition to a $150 gift certificate from Viewpoint Photographic Design.
Only jpg or tiff format submissions will be accepted and you can email your submissions to [email protected]. Entries must include the name and address of the photographer, the location of each photograph and photo category.
Individuals may submit a maximum of three photographs, with each image entered into one category only. Multiple entries in one category are permitted up to the entry limit. All photos must have been taken within a 50-kilometre radius of the Battlefords prior to the closing date of the contest.
Photos should not look dated and electronically manipulated. Retouched photos are not allowed. In-camera manipulation only is allowed. Some minor manipulation such as cropping is acceptable.
Entries must be received no later than Sept. 7 with the announcement of winners no later than Sept. 15. Destination Battlefords will reserve full usage rights of all entries for publication in promotional material including websites, advertising, social media, brochures and guides.
