SARCAN recycling depot employees across the province assisted with the sale of Helping Hands for Telemiracle during the months of January and February.

Patrons purchasing Helping Hands from a SARCAN Recycling depot received an entry form for an opportunity to win one of 10 home theatre systems consisting of a large flat screen television, Blu-ray player and a speaker system valued at $1,500.

All depot entries were forwarded to Saskatoon head office where the draws were made. Two draws were made in each of the five regions (North West, North East, Central, South West and South East) with prize winners in the communities of Blaine Lake, Meadow Lake, Sintaluta (through Indian Head depot), Langenburg, Nipawin, Prince Albert, Kindersley, Maple Creek, Saskatoon and Regina.

Blaine Lake winner Sharmon Richards was recently presented with the unit at the Blaine Lake SARCAN depot by Regional Manager Chantelle Diakuw and Blaine Lake SARCAN supervisor Rick Rebalkin.

As of 2013, SARCAN's 71 depots in 63 communities across the province have raised close to $400,000 for Telemiracle. In 2013 alone, SARCAN donations totalled $51,419.69.

SARCAN is Saskatchewan's province-wide provider of environmental protection, economic development and employment creation for people of all abilities. Blaine Lake SARCAN provides the community of Blaine Lake and surrounding area with recycling options.

"We ask that people sort their containers by material type and to remove all caps and corks. Containers that are excessively dirty, mangled and/or broken, contaminated with foreign material and that are unidentifiable will be refused," said Rebalkin.

He adds people and organizations with large volume returns should pre-book their delivery time, so staff can best accommodate all customers in a quick and efficient manner. This would apply to organizations having bottle drives or large events where returns would be beyond regular consumption.
