Theft suspects nabbed

A police vehicle pursuit, a crash and a subsequent chase on foot have ended with two people being taken into custody to face 18 criminal charges, including possession of stolen vehicles.

A police vehicle pursuit, a crash and a subsequent chase on foot have ended with two people being taken into custody to face 18 criminal charges, including possession of stolen vehicles.

Vigilant residents of Maidstone get some of the credit for the arrests.

Maidstone RCMP says they responded to a call of a suspicious person in the during the early morning of Oct. 8.

An attempt was madeto pull over two related vehicle, but theyfled from police. In the process one was involved in a single vehicle collision. The driver of that vehicle fled from the scene and a short foot pursuit ensued.

A man and a woman were taken into custody andtwo stolen vehicles were recoveredas well asstolen items from Maidstone, Lashburn and Fort McMurray.

Both accused individuals have been remanded into custody on a total of 18 criminal charges andhave their next court appearance on Oct. 18. The charges include, dangerous driving, flight from police, possession ofstolen propertyand resisting arrest.
