At a public meeting hosted by the Tisdale Chamber of Commerce upcoming corporate tax changes, local accountants encouraged residents to make their voices heard by the federal government.
The federal government is holding a 75-day consultation period that ends Oct. 2.
“It’s important to let people know that this is the time that they need to have their voice heard, they need to influence this process and make sure they are considered in this decision,” said Shane Janke with Janke Jellicoe.
The accountant suggested people contact the finance ministry at [email protected], as well as their MPs and senators.
“Let them know where you stand on it and make sure that your voice is heard in the House of Commons and also in the Senate.”
Janke recommended people keep giving feedback after the Oct. 2 deadline.
“If you miss on that, if you don’t get your comments into them by Oct. 2, don’t stop,” he said. “Until it’s passed and all of the way through, it can still be reworked, things can still happen to it, don’t stop having your voice heard just because of this deadline.”
