Tisdale — Council is looking at the potential for a crosswalk near the Caleb Village retirement community.
“Well it’s just there is no crosswalk at Caleb Village, the hospital and Newmarket Manor,” said Al Jellicoe, Tisdale’s mayor. “We never really had concerns with issues before. Just somebody was back home visiting and sent a letter.”
Council will be taking it under consideration but nothing will be done anytime soon.
“There won’t be nothing done this fall because crosswalks usually involve painting and we don’t paint too much in the fall.”
Land deposits
Municipal bylaws have been changed so now any interested party who wants to buy land can now place a 30-day-hold on the property.
The hold is a non-refundable deposit for 10 per cent for residential and 20 per cent for commercial. Once the property is purchased it will be deducted from the selling price. If the sale doesn’t proceed, the deposit isn’t returned.
“Well it’s just some people want to put a deposit on it to hold it until they get all their paperwork in place. It’s more for the individual,” Jellicoe said. “It’s just confirming what we’re doing in practise.”
