A Tisdale man was charged with attempted murder after Tisdale RCMP responded to an injured woman who was a victim of domestic violence.

The RCMP said they spoke to the 70-year-old woman July 29 at around 9 a.m., who told them her 53-year-old husband became upset and attacked her in their residence. The woman was treated at the hospital for her injuries and later released. The man later turned himself in at the Tisdale RCMP detachment and was arrested without incident.

As a result of an investigation, the Tisdale RCMP have charged the man not only with attempted murder, but with aggravated assault, choking to overcome resistance and uttering threats.

The man will appear in Tisdale Provincial Court Aug. 1. The RCMP said they will release the name of the man at a later date.
