COPE 397 is hosting Town Halls across Saskatchewan on recent changes to Bill 40, including one in the Battlefords.

They will host a meeting March 13 in North Battleford at 7 p.m., in Don Ross Centre Room #107 891 99th Street

They also have meetings planned for March 14 at the Travelodge Hotel 101 1st East in Meadow Lake, in Lloydminster on May 15 at Days Inn Hotel 5411 44th Street, and March 16 in Kindersley at the Kindersley Inn, 601 11 Avenue East. Times are also 7 pm.

According to COPE 397’s news release, they will be discussing Bill 40 which, if passed, would allow the government to wind down, dissolve, or sell-off up to 49% of the shares in Crown Corporations without consultation with the public or a referendum.

According to the union, Bill 40 “opens the door to a sell off our Crown Corporations to private interests, a massive privatization.”

The sessions are being facilitated in collaboration with the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour, and other unions.
