Town of Rose Valley celebrating 100 years

More than 250 people are already registered for the 100th birthday celebrations in Rose Valley.
The Town of Rose Valley has many activities planned on July 5 and 6.

ROSE VALLEY – Rose Valley was founded in 1924 and the organizing committee of the 100th birthday party is planning a once-in-a-lifetime party to celebrate this milestone.

Marjorie Zarowny, treasurer for the committee is busy planning with the rest of the volunteers. Zarowny said, “The committee is deeply appreciative of our sponsors and the hard-working volunteers in our community — without volunteers we would not be able to put this event on.”

There are approximately 250 people registered with the deadline for catered meal purchases coming up on May 24. Rose Valley's 100th Birthday Bash Committee plans to leave a legacy of funding behind for the community. The committee has pulled together local volunteers to organize a family-friendly, fun-filled celebration and hope to raise funds for Rose Valley recreational facilities.

“It's a big task and we will need a lot of community support. Net profits from this event will be contributed to the Town of Rose Valley as a legacy fund that will be used for the continued operation and maintenance of recreational facilities like the hall, recreation complex, museum, library and parks in the town,” said Zarowny.

The weekend of July 5 and 6 will be packed with activity and events for everyone. On Friday, July 5, registration will start at 2 p.m. at the Rec Complex lobby. There will be children’s activities in the park west of the Rec Complex. A bouncy house and face painting has been sponsored by the Rose Valley and District Community group.

The organizing committee encourages everyone to check out their local businesses while in town on this weekend. The Rose Valley and District Heritage Museum will be open from noon to 5 p.m. on Friday. Updates will follow once activities are finalized.

Fireworks are planned for Friday night at 10:30 p.m. They will be set off north of the Rec Complex (weather permitting). The street between the school and Rec Complex will be closed to vehicle traffic. There will be beer gardens open throughout the weekend. Saturday, July 6 will host a plethora of activities. It starts with a pancake breakfast, a parade, horse-drawn wagon rides, town-wide walking tour by the Rose Valley Community Spirit Manor. A family friendly slo-pitch tournament is also being organized and a birthday bash dance with music by DJ Cory Teale on Saturday evening.

The Kings of Nora car show will be on Sunday, July 7 just north of Rose Valley with Johnny Rockstar BBQ Food Truck on site and beer gardens with the Mudd Brothers live band.

For more information on how to register you can contact the committee by email at [email protected], phone the Town Office at 306-322-2232 to have registration forms mailed out by Canada Post, or on their Facebook page at Rose Valley Birthday Bash 2024.
